Sen. Butch Miller Named Chair of Transportation
Subcommittee
ATLANTA (February 2, 2011) – State Sen. Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga), chairman of the Senate
Transportation Committee, has selected State Sen. Butch Miller (R-Gainesville) to serve as chairman
of the Senate Transportation Subcommittee on Airports & Seaports. The subcommittee will be tasked
with vetting specific transportation bills and resolutions assigned by the full Transportation committee
that focus on their particular policy area.
“Maintaining a safe and reliable infrastructure is one of the core functions of government,” said Miller.
“It’s an honor to serve as subcommittee chairman and I look forward to working with Sen. Mullis and
the rest of the committee to improve our transportation system for the businesses and people of
Georgia.”
“Senator Miller has the knowledge, passion and leadership that we need at this critical time to help
move Georgia forward with our transportation system and infrastructure,” said Mullis. “He has proven
to be a vital part of the Senate and the people of Georgia are very fortunate that someone of his
qualifications will be taking on this important role. I am excited to work alongside him and have no
doubt he will continue to be an invaluable asset for our committee going forward.”
Miller will be joined on the subcommittee by State Sen. Valencia Seay (D-Riverdale) and State Sen.
Ross Tolleson (R-Perry). Mullis will serve on the committee as an ex-officio member, where he will
have voting privileges when the subcommittee needs to reach a quorum.

He represents the 49th Senate District which includes Hall County and portions of Jackson County. He
