There is no issue that is a bigger threat to Georgia's economic future than a dwindling water supply. Growth has continued throughout the North Georgia and Atlanta regions despite a severe limit on our infrastructure and water supply. We must plan now before it is too late -- and drought shuts down our region.
It is absolutely clear that Georgia needs negotiators and advocates working on our behalf in the so called "water wars" with surrounding states. I will rely on my business experience, as well as my life experience as a principled advocate, to protect Lake Lanier's water supply. We must fight for our rights to protect Lanier: our clean water as well as our economic future depends on it.
I will also work to create new sources of water for the state, including a new system of reservoirs. State government alone cannot afford these reservoirs. I will work to create tax incentives for private businesses to build reservoirs and water systems. Public/private partnerships creating new water reservoirs are necessary for more clean water.

• Sen. Miller Named Chair of
State and Local Governmental Operations Committee.
Sen. Miller will also serve on the Agriculture, Transportation, Natural Resources and Economic Development committees.
