Sen. Miller Named Chair of
State and Local Governmental Operations Committee
ATLANTA (January 10, 2011) – Sen. Butch Miller (R-Gainesville) has been appointed Chairman of the Senate State and Local Governmental Operations Committee for the 2011-2012 Term by the Senate Committee on Assignments. Sen. Miller will also serve on the Agriculture, Transportation, Natural Resources and Economic Development committees.
“I am honored to serve the people of Georgia in my capacity as a member of these important committees,” said Sen. Miller. “This challenging session will be an opportunity to pass legislation that will put Georgia on the road to growth and success. Our work on the committee level is where we lay the foundation for these policies.”
"Senator Miller has already proven himself as a valuable member of the Senate. Though his Senate career is just beginning he has earned considerable respect among his Senate colleagues. His Committee assignments are reflective of the trust we have placed in him to handle tough issues and help lead our state," said Sen. Jim Butterworth, member of Committee on Assignments.
The 152nd Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly convened today at the State Capitol.
