Budgeting and Spending

I have a saying at home - “Is it nice or is it necessary”? If it is necessary, then we spend the money, if it is nice but not necessary, then we don’t spend the money for that item. Government should be the same. We first take care of the services necessary to keep our communities one of the top destinations for relocation from other parts of the U.S. This helps our economy grow and produces jobs. We should stop spending money on the things that are just someone’s idea of what would be a nice thing to have. If you look at the State Senate’s website you will see the budgeting office mandate. I think that mandate is clear and I will help enforce the policy when elected.

Quoting from the State Senate website,
“The Senate Budget and Evaluation Office (SBEO) was created during the 2003 Session and legislation formally creating the office was passed in 2008. The purpose of the office is to give the Senate the independent capacity to develop the annual budget for the State of Georgia and to evaluate the programs comprising the state budget.
The mission of SBEO is to support an informed, policy-driven budget process.
The office is committed to producing an accurate and transparent budget document and to the development of accurate, objective, timely, non-partisan, and thorough budget and policy analysis for the Georgia State Senate.”
